Scholarship Program
2012 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM IS OPEN AND WE ARE NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS!
The International Traders of Iowa (ITI) is pleased to announce the creation of a scholarship program available to its members and children of members. ITI is a body of individuals and companies that gathers to network with each other to help develop international business skills. ITI is dedicated to the growth of international business and trade in Iowa via its educational and networking opportunities in the arena of import-export, global logistics, communications and cross-cultural understanding.
As a part of its educational program, ITI will award four scholarships of US$1,000.00 each, as outlined in the program details below. As a benefit of your ITI membership, your employees and their children are eligible to apply for one of these scholarships. ITI highly encourages you to promote this scholarship opportunity in your workplace and thanks you for being a valued member of our organization.
ITI Scholarship Program Details:
THE PROGRAM
ITI has established a scholarship program to assist members, employees of member companies, and/or their legal dependents/children that plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.
This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship Management Services®, a division of Scholarship America®. Scholarship Management Services is the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship and tuition reimbursement programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability or national origin.
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants to the ITI Scholarship Program must -
- Be either current members or full-time employees of ITI member companies or be children of current members or children of full-time employees of ITI member companies as of the application deadline date.
- Be post-secondary undergraduate students at the level of sophomore or above (as determined by their institution) or be graduate level students who will attend* an accredited Iowa nonprofit two-year or four-year college or university or nonprofit vocational-technical school for the 2011-2012 academic year.
*Current members or employees of ITI member companies may enroll part-time (minimum of six credit hours per term, or the equivalent). Children of current members and children of full-time employees of ITI member companies must enroll full-time** for the entire upcoming academic year (minimum of 12 credit hours per term, or the equivalent).
- Be majoring in one of the following areas of study leading to an Associates Degree, Bachelors Degree in Arts and Sciences, Masters Degree or a Doctoral Degree:
- International Relations
- International Studies
- International Business
- Logistics
- Foreign Language
- Other related international-focus program
- Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or its equivalent.
(ITI Board members are ineligible.)
**Full-time study is defined as full-time enrollment for the entire upcoming academic year.
AWARDS
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a single award of US$1,000.00. Up to four awards of $1,000 each will be granted. Preference will be given to granting three awards for undergraduate students and one award for graduate students, provided there are qualified applicants. The overall goal is to grant all four awards; therefore, if there are not enough qualified applicants in either of the groups, additional awards will be made to the other group.
Awards are not renewable; however, students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.
Awards are for undergraduate and graduate study.
APPLICATION
Interested students must complete the application and mail it along with a current, complete transcript of grades to Scholarship Management Services postmarked no later than March 15, 2012. Grade reports are not acceptable. Online transcripts must display student name, school name, grade and credit hours earned for each course, and term in which each course was taken. Applicants will receive acknowledgment of receipt of their application. If an acknowledgment card is not received within three weeks, applicants may call Scholarship Management Services to verify that the application has been received.
Applicants are responsible for gathering and submitting all necessary information. Applications are evaluated on the information supplied; therefore, answer all questions as completely as possible. Incomplete applications will not be evaluated. All information received is considered confidential and is reviewed only by Scholarship Management Services.
SELECTION OF RECIPIENTS
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an outside appraisal. Four awards of US$1,000.00 will be granted. Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship Management Services. In no instance does any officer or employee of ITI play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final. Applicants will be notified in April 2012. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.
PAYMENT OF SCHOLARSHIPS
Scholarship Management Services processes scholarship payments on behalf of ITI. Payments are made on August 15th. Checks are mailed to each recipient's home address and are made payable to the school for the student.
OBLIGATIONS
Recipients have no obligation to ITI. They are, however, required to notify Scholarship Management Services of any changes in address, school enrollment, or other relevant information and to send a complete transcript when requested.
REVISIONS
ITI reserves the right to review the conditions and procedures of this scholarship program and to make changes at any time, including termination of the program.
